Taxonomy
Rowanpectinus clarus was named by Gravestock (1984). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Wilkawillina Gorge buildups 1, Flinders Ranges, which is in an Atdabanian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks/floatstone in the Wilkawillina Limestone Formation of Australia.

It was recombined as Inessocyathus clarus by Debrenne et al. (2015).
