Taxonomy
Echinalosia mcclungi was named by Briggs (1998) [Geological and Mining Museum, Sydney]. Its type specimen is MM F28944G-H, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is DM Callala DDH 1 Well, 369.1-370.6 m, which is in an Artinskian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone in the Pebbly Beach Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Acanthalosia mcclungi by Waterhouse (2020).
