Lathyrus duplicatus was named by Vredenburg (1925) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene; Pakistan.]. Its type specimen is Unknown number, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Latirus duplicatus by Snyder (2003).
