Taxonomy
Connectastrea infundibuliformis was named by Wells (1932). Its type locality is Suttler road, which is in an Albian shallow subtidal limestone in the Glen Rose Limestone Formation of Texas.

It was recombined as Preverastraea infundibuliformis by Löser et al. (2018).
