Taxonomy
Oxysmilia pliocenica was named by Cairns (1995). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is PPP# 311 - Cayo Agua [Cayo Agua Fm], which is in a Piacenzian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone in the Cayo Agua Formation of Panama.
