Zugodactylites was named by Buckman (1926) [Sepkoski's age data: J Toar-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); to Dactylioceratidae by Stevens (2008); and to Dactylioceratinae by Howarth (2013).
