Taxonomy
Corbula hexacyma was named by Brown and Pilsbry (1913) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; circum-Caribbean.]. Its type specimen is ANSP (no number), a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Corbula (Cuneocorbula) hexacyma by Weisbord (1929) and Barrios (1960); it was recombined as Corbula (Hexacorbula) hexacyma by Olsson (1932); it was recombined as Aloidis hexacyma by Oinomikado (1939); it was recombined as Caryocorbula (Hexacorbula) hexacyma by Olsson (1964); it was synonymized subjectively with Bothrocorbula (Hexacorbula) gatunensis by Woodring (1982) and Perrilliat (1992); it was recombined as Hexacorbula hexacyma by Vokes (1945) and Anderson and Roopnarine (2003).
