Taxonomy
Branisella boliviana was named by Hoffstetter (1969). Its type specimen is MNHN no type specimen number designated, a maxilla (P4/-M2/, with roots of P2-3/), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Salla, which is in a Deseadan terrestrial horizon in the Salla Formation of Bolivia. It is the type species of Branisella.
