Anakrusa was named by Nazarov (1977) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llde O Cara-l]. It is the type genus of Anakrusidae.

It was assigned to Anakrusidae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Spumellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
