Paraphysornis brasiliensis
Taxonomy
Physornis brasiliensis was named by Alvarenga (1982). Its type specimen is DGM 1418-R, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bairro do Padre Eterno (DGM collection), which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in the Tremembé Formation of Brazil. It is the type species of Paraphysornis.
It was recombined as Paraphysornis brasiliensis by Alvarenga (1993), Alvarenga and Holfing (2003) and Gould and Quitmyer (2005).
