Orthomorphina was named by Stainforth (1952) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m-l R]. It was considered unknown by Stainforth (1952).

It was assigned to Glandulonodosariidae by Stainforth (1952); and to Foraminiferida by Sepkoski (2002).

R. M. Stainforth 1952Calcareous, uniserial, straight, thin shelled, smooth or lightly costate. Chambers usually inflated, sutures distinct. Early chambers usually globular, later chambers tending to become lengthened and apiculate, though in each chamber but the last the projecting portion is hidden under the next formed chamber. Chamber arrangement typically slightly irregular, with one or two of the median chambers often larger than the terminal chamber. Usually from five to seven chambers, rarely more than seven. Aperture terminal, central, variously a simple circular orifice as in O. rohri, a s:mple apiculate neck as in O. obsoleta, or an apiculate neck with a thickened or everted rim as in O. havanensis or O.challengeriana.
