Corycephalus was named by Hall and Clarke (1888) [Sepkoski's age data: D Gedi Sepkoski's reference number: 1106]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Phacopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Dalmanitidae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
