Taxonomy
Terebratula perovalis was named by Sowerby (1825). It is the type species of Dundrythyris.

It was recombined as Dundrythyris perovalis by Alméras (1970) and Alméras and Peybernès (1979); it was recombined as Loboidothyris perovalis by Cooper (1983) and Andrade (2006).
