Taxonomy
Callidium was named by Fabricius (1775). It is extant. It is the type genus of Callidiadae.

It was assigned to Coleoptera by Latreille (1796); to Eleuterata by Fabricius (1775), Fabricius (1798); to Cerambicini by Latreille (1802); to Cerambycidae by Zang (1905), Wickham (1917); and to Callidiini by Bouchard et al. (2011).
