Prodolichotis guerreroi was named by Walton (1990) [Etymology guerreroi: for Javier Guerrero Diaz, INGEOMINAS stratigrapher]. Its type specimen is UCMP 39930, a mandible (right mandible with p4-m3), and it is a 3D body fossil.
