Dalejina was named by Havlicek (1953) [Sepkoski's age data: O Ashg-u D Eife-u Sepkoski's reference number: 24,25,27,965]. Its type is Dalejina hanusi.

It was assigned to Orthida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Rhipidomellinae by Bassett and Cocks (1974), Williams et al. (2000) and Rubel (2011).
