Taxonomy
Ammonites complanosum was named by Simpson (1855).

It was recombined as Metoxynoticeras complanosum by Howarth (1962); it was recombined as Radstockiceras complanosum by Bremer (1965), Meister (1986), Alkaya and Meister (1995), Rakús and Guex (2002) and Geczy and Meister (2007).
