Euspira compressa
Taxonomy
Gyrodes compressus was named by Waring (1917). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chico area north of the Simi fault (Locality 1 of Waring 1917), which is in a Cretaceous marine sandstone/shale in the Chatsworth Formation of California.
It was synonymized subjectively with Euspira shumardiana by Popenoe (1937); it was recombined as Euspira compressa by Elder and Saul (1993).
