Ancillotoechia was named by Havlicek (1959). Its type is Rhynchonella ancillans.
It was assigned to Trigonirhynchiinae by Jin and Chatterton (1997) and Williams et al. (2002); to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Trigonirhynchiidae by Bassett and Cocks (1974), Rubel and Rozman (1977) and Musteikis and Modzalevskaya (2002).
