Taxonomy
Pecten (Chlamys) parmeleei was named by Dall (1898). Its type specimen is USNM 154479, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Chlamys parmeleei by Woodring and Bramlette (1950) and Stanton (1966); it was recombined as Swiftopecten parmeleei by Moore (1984) and Hendy (2020).
