Taxonomy
Leptophyllia sanchezroigi was named by Wells (1941). Its type locality is Central Perseverancia, which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian marine horizon in Cuba.

It was recombined as Acrosmilia sanchezroigi by Kiessling (2014).
