Taxonomy
Lacazella was named by Munier-Chalmas (1881) [Sepkoski's age data: K Maes R Sepkoski's reference number: 538]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Lacazellinae.

It was assigned to Thecideida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Lacazellinae by Williams et al. (2006), Bitner and Müller (2017).
