Taxonomy
Glyptorthis senecta was named by Cooper (1956). Its type specimen is USNM 110070h, a valve (pedicle valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 5 miles southeast of Rose Hill, which is in an Ashbyan carbonate limestone in the Poteet Formation of Virginia.
