Rigaudites was named by Frizzell and Exline (1957) [Sepkoski's age data: K l T Ol]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Synaptites cuvillieri.

It was assigned to Synaptellidae by Deflandre-Rigaud (1962); to Synaptitidae by Frizzell and Exline (1957), Frizzell and Exline (1966) and Soodan (1991); to Apodida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Synaptidae by Reich and Wiese (2010).
