Orthis kuckersiana was named by Wysogorski (1900).

It was recombined as Cyrtonotella kuckersiana by Wysogorski (1900) and Alikhova (1953); it was misspelled as Cyrtonotella kukkersiana by Hints (1975) and Laskovas et al. (1993).
