Amphiblestrum hastingsae was named by Brown (1952). It is extant. Its type specimen is D. 36572. Its type locality is Tarakohe Quarry, which is in an Oligocene marine marl in New Zealand.
It was recombined as Onychoblestrum hastingsae by Lee et al. (1997).
