Palaeocypraea fontana
Taxonomy
Cypraea fontana was named by Anderson (1958). Its type specimen is CAS 1345.04, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS loc. 1345, Texas Springs, on road leading to Centerville, which is in an Albian marine horizon in the Budden Canyon Formation of California.
It was recombined as Palaeocypraea (Palaeocypraea) korycanensis fontana by Schilder and Schilder (1971); it was recombined as Palaeocypraea (Palaeocypraea) fontana by Groves (1990); it was recombined as Palaeocypraea fontana by Groves et al. (2011).
