Carpodaptes was named by Matthew and Granger (1921). It is not extant. It was considered monophyletic by Beard and Wang (1995).
It was assigned to Primates by Matthew and Granger (1921); to Tarsiidae by Simpson (1928); to Carpolestidae by Simpson (1936), Simpson (1937), Simpson (1940), Gunnell (1989), McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Carpolestinae by Beard and Wang (1995), Beard et al. (2016).
