Pseudocyonopsis was named by Kuss (1965) [MittelgroBe Amphicyoniden mit vollstandiger Zahnformel. Pramolaren schon ± verkleinert und durch Lucken getrennt, PI-P3 ohne Hinterzacken. MI von Cynodictis-artigem Geprage durch kurzes, hohes Paraconid, ebensolches Protoconid und relativ kurzes Talonid; Langsfurche des Talonides vor dem terminalen Rand gegabelt, wodurch Andeutungen eines Hypoconulides sichtbar werden. M2 mit weitgehend bis vollig reduziertern Entoconid, bei Formen des Aquitaniums mit Pseudocyonartigem UmriB.].
