Taxonomy
Ammonites nevadanus was named by Gabb (1870). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Volcano (Pilot Mountains), which is in a Lacian marine limestone in the Luning Formation of Nevada.

It was recombined as Arnioceras nevadanum by Gabb (1869), Hyatt (1894) and Macchioni et al. (2006).
