Taxonomy
Tusoteuthis cobbani was named by Larson (2010). Its type specimen is BHI 4138 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cheyenne River, near Wasta, which is in a Campanian offshore shale in the Pierre Shale Formation of South Dakota.
It was recombined as Enchoteuthis cobbani by Fuchs et al. (2019).
