Taxonomy
Lewesiceras pingue was named by Leanza (1967). Its type specimen is USNM 132.562 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 10537. Ubaté, 45 millas al norte de Bogotá, which is in a Turonian marine horizon in the La Frontera Formation of Colombia.
