Taxonomy
Pseudotoma axeli was named by Harris and Palmer (1947). Its type specimen is ANSP 4983 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is PRI Moodys Branch marl locality 11, which is in a Bartonian marine marl in the Moodys Branch Formation of Mississippi.
