Taxonomy
Clisospirinae was named by Miller (1889) [nom. transl. Knight, Batten & Yochelson 1960.]. Its type is Clisospira. It is the type subfamily of Clisospiridae.

It was assigned to Clisospiridae by Knight et al. (1960), Linsley and Kier (1984), Heidelberger and Bandel (1999) and Bouchet et al. (2005).
