Taxonomy
Arossia cummembrana was named by Kline (1997) [Lower upper Miocene (lower Tortonian), St Marys Formation of Maryland]. Its type specimen is DJB1179D, Dept of Paleobiology, USNM. Its type locality is Locality 410 (Little Cove Point Mbr, St Marys Fm), which is in a Miocene estuary/bay claystone in the St Marys Formation of Maryland.
