Terebratalia batequia was named by Sandy et al. (1995) [Middle Eocene; Mexico-California]. Its type specimen is IGM 5943, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CSUN Loc. 1519 - Arroyo Mezquital [Bateque Fm], which is in a Lutetian offshore sandstone in the Bateque Formation of Mexico.
