It was assigned to Zygophiurae by Clark and Twitchell (1915); to Chilophiurida by Matsumoto (1915) and Wolburg (1939); to Chilophiurina by Spencer and Wright (1966); to Ophiodermatina by Smith et al. (1995), Jagt (2000) and Storc and Zitt (2008); to Ophiodermatidea by O'Hara et al. (2017); and to Ophiodermatoidea by O'Hara et al. (2018).
