Taxonomy
Neritopsis was named by Grateloup (1832) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi R Sepkoski's reference number: 797]. It is extant. Its type is Neritopsis moniliformis.
It was assigned to Neritopsidae by Ladd (1966), Conti and Szabó (1989), Wilson (1993) and Lozouet et al. (2001); to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Neritopsinae by Knight et al. (1960), Hoerle (1972), Kase (1984), Bouchet et al. (2005) and Bandel (2007).
It was assigned to Neritopsidae by Ladd (1966), Conti and Szabó (1989), Wilson (1993) and Lozouet et al. (2001); to Archaeogastropoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Neritopsinae by Knight et al. (1960), Hoerle (1972), Kase (1984), Bouchet et al. (2005) and Bandel (2007).
