Taxonomy
Ptychosalpinx (Paranassa) granifera was named by Conrad (1868) [DISTRIBUTION: Early-Late Pliocene; Virginia-Florida.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Nassarius granifera by Ward and Blackwelder (1987); it was recombined as Ilyanassa granifera by Conrad (1892), Gardner (1943) and Hendy et al. (2008).
