Denckmannites-Cromus Assemblage, Prague Basin (Silurian of Czech Republic)

Where: Czech Republic (50.0° N, 14.3° E: paleocoordinates 51.0° S, 56.8° E)

• coordinate based on political unit

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Kopanina Formation, Ludfordian (425.6 - 423.0 Ma)

• topmost Kopanina

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; shelly/skeletal, gray lime mudstone and shelly/skeletal, gray limestone

• "According to Horny (1962), the cephalopod limestones represent the most offshore tongues of teh carbonate development. Kriz (1979) presumed a rather shallow wwater environment within the reach of surface currents, Turek (1974) inferred a slow sedimentation in a sublittoral zone below the wave base. Stratigraphical relationships to adjacent facies suggest a condensed sedimentation, probably BA 4."
• "Light to dark grey, strongly bituminous biodetrital and biomicritic limestones with linear arranged cephalopod shells and abundant bivalves (cardiolids are typical) yield only sporadic and fragmented trilobite remains..."

Collection methods: Similar to PBDB collection 14112 (Nautiloid-Bivalve biofacies. of Havlicek and Storch 1999), but not identical.
