Currier Formation in British Columbia (Jurassic to of Canada)

Where: British Columbia, Canada (49.7° N, 126.6° W: paleocoordinates 17.3° N, 116.8° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• basin-level geographic resolution

When: Currier Formation, Tithonian to Tithonian (152.1 - 125.8 Ma)

• formation-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: delta plain; lithified, bioturbated siltstone and lithified sandstone

• Layer C1 consists of coal: in situ plants; may be roots in seat earth. Layer C2 consists of cross-bedded sandstone: trough cross-bedded, scoured baes, rip-up clasts, plant detritus. Layer C3 consists of low-angle planar-bedded sandstone: mature medium-grained sandstone, low-angle planar cross-beds, plant detritus. Layer C4 consists of fissle shale: with trace fossils. Layer C5 consists of siltstone-mudstone interbeds: abundant well-preserved plant macrofossils, planar-bedded and ripple-laminated siltstone and mudstone. Layer C6 consists of bioturbated mudstone and siltstone. Layer C7 consists of sandstone-siltstone interbeds with trace fossils. Layer C8 consists of flaser-bedded siltstone: lenticular to flaser-bedded and ripple-laminated siltstone and mudstone.
