Environment/lithology: basinal (siliceous); lithified, gray, cherty/siliceous packstone

• The studied succession was deposited on a south Tethyan rifted block, subsided to water depths of a few hundred meters. The depositional environment was oxygen depleted and characterized by high clastic input.The Jurassic succession of at least part of the Julian Alps, including Mt. Mangart, accumulated on a subsided block, directly attached to the northern margin of the Friuli (Dinaric) Carbonate Platform.
