Environment/lithology: offshore; lithified, gray, cherty/siliceous mudstone

• Formation considered an equivalent to Wufeng Formation. Xiao et al. (1996) (from GEOREF) gives a general Wufeng analysis of depositional environments: notes Wufeng Shale and Guanyingquiao Members are condensed and maximum flooding sections, respectively within a "deep sea basin environment" bordered by carbonate platform rimmed with "keep-up" reefs
