• "Santa Cruz do Sul Fauna"; so-called "Santacruzodon Assemblage Zone" of the lower Santa Maria Formation (Santa Maria Sequence 1 of the Santa Maria Supersequence).

•Originally identified as Ladinian. However, Melo et al. (2015) noted that U-Pb dating suggests an early Carnian age for the Santacruzodon Assemblage Zone

Environment/lithology: "floodplain"; concretionary, red, carbonaceous mudstone and fine-grained sandstone
