Type specimen: MSNM specimen Besano I (destroyed during WWII?), a partial skeleton (skull, complete vertebral column, humerus, tibia and fibula). Its type locality is Besano (Scisti bituminosi), which is in an Anisian/Ladinian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal dolomite/shale in the Besano Formation of Italy.
