Sister taxa: Hauffiosaurus longirostris, Hauffiosaurus zanoni

Type specimen: MANCH LL 8004, a skeleton (an almost complete skeleton). Its type locality is Ravenscar, which is in a Bifrons offshore shale in the Whitby Mudstone Formation of the United Kingdom.

Ecology: nektonic carnivore

Distribution: found only at Ravenscar
