Type specimen: MCZ 1033, a skeleton. Its type locality is 'Alum Shale' (Harpoceras falciferum), Whitby-Saltwick section, Yorkshire, which is in a Falciferum marine shale in the Whitby Mudstone Formation of the United Kingdom.
