Belongs to Sthenurus according to Marcus 1962
Sister taxa: Sthenurus murrayi, Sthenurus notabilis, Sthenurus stirlingi, Sthenurus tindalei
Type specimen: AM MF946, a mandible (left dentary fragmeny). Its type locality is Bone Camp Gully, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in Australia.
