Sister taxa: Yimengia laiwuensis, Yimengia zdanskyi

Type specimen: IVPP V7392, a partial skull. Its type locality is 1 km northeast of Laiwu railway station, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Guanzhuang Formation of China.
