Sister taxa: Borhyaenidium altiplanicus, Borhyaenidium musteloides

Type specimen: FMNH P14409, a partial skull (two fragments of left maxillary, one with C and anterior root of P1, other with M1-3; left mandibular ramus with root of C, roots of p1-3, m1 almost complete, m). Its type locality is Puerta de Corral Quemado, which is in a Montehermosan terrestrial horizon in the Corral Quemado Formation of Argentina.

Ecology: scansorial carnivore

Distribution: found only at Puerta de Corral Quemado
